Lot Information

A reprinted version of the 1929 original classic titled The Architectural Side of Golf, this re titled edition published for the Sportsman's Book Club. By no means as grand as the original, the content nevertheless remains exactly the same, with 203 pages faithful to the text and excellent illustrations. H.N. Wethered was the father of two famous golfers: Joyce Wethered and Roger Wethered. Tom Simpson was a golf course architect who has three courses in the top 100 rankings to his credit: he designed Cruden Bay, Morfontaine in France and redesigned Ballybunion in Ireland. This book covers various design philosophies and includes chapters on hazards, fairways, putting greens, attack & defence, general principles, construction and upkeep etc., etc. An important contribution on golf architecture containing the design philosophies and thinking of a truly splendid era. Like its predecessor, Design for Golf is part of golf course design history, and remains well worth reading today. Very good condition. In its DW though has some missing pieces
